How do I write to an author?

I've just joined today. I am told that I am not authorised to access my Inbox, so I presume that I can't compose a note.

How do I write to an author?

You should be able to use your mail now. It has to be turned on by hand by me. I do that to confirm that you are a real person and not a spambot.
